Hello all and long time no see! I’m sorry I’ve been basically missing from this blog for a few weeks. Life’s been busy. I haven’t even been finishing many books this month. But I’m here, trying to post more and talk more about books! So better late than never, here is my September Here and Now. Check out my previous Here and Now posts here.
Like I said, I haven’t been finishing books much. The last book I finished was in the beginning of September, and it’s already almost October! However I am still reading, though not that much either.
I have been carrying over the books I planned on reading for the Femme Fan Tale Readathon, a readathon of fantasy books written by female authors. And so now my Currently Reading shelf is filled with amazing fantasy books that are both so immersive to read, but unfortunately also… super duper long! That’s why it feels like I haven’t been reading much, but trust me I’m making slow progress on my fantasy books.
On audiobook I’m listening to JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which I’m really enjoying listening to on my commute. On the other hand, I also have in my Kindle the second book of the Liveship Traders series by Robin Hobb, and I’m already halfway through this chunk of a novel. It’s super great fun to read more about the characters I’m starting to get to know more of, I especially like Althea’s character development. And finally I also just checked out The Night Tiger by Yangzee Choo from the library, so I’m only around three chapters in but really liking it so far. I love how Asian it is, and being from Indonesia with Chinese descendants I love spotting some phrases and stories that are reminding me of home.
We are still going through the Game of Thrones watch – rewatch for me, and it’s been great fun. On a very different type of show, my boyfriend and I just finished the last episode of Karakai Jouzu no Moto Takagi-san, or Skilled Teaser Takagi-san, an anime that is very light, fun, and wholesome. It’s filled with adorable scenes, quite romantic (which is so unlike me!), but I’ve been loving it.
On the probably last warm and summery Saturday of the year, we went to Rotterdam for a food truck festival called Rrollend. It’s a classy, very fun festival with loads of trucks and a huge variety of food types that go hopping around the Netherlands every summer.
We had delicious Brazilian, Argentinian, Mexican food, and ended everything with lovely ice cream. Such a nice day, added to the fact that it was super sunny!
I’ve been obsessed with a simple little game that is so adorable called Rakko Ukabe! It’s a game in which you have a beach that you can decorate with objects and these objects will attract cute unique rakkos or otters, in English. It’s such a fun time to match and mix things that you can add in a beach and then guess which kinds of otters will appear. You just set them and then feed them and leave the app for a few hours and when you get back, the beach will be decorated with lovely little creatures! I would highly recommend if you like mindless games that are cutely illustrated.
I mentioned a long time ago that my current crochet project was a scarf – guess what, I’ve finally finished making it! This is my first real wearable crochet project that is quite a big scale, and I’m really proud of it. It’s definitely not perfect, but I really like how it turned out. The material is lovely and soft and the colours are gorgeous.
On another note, I have also been painting! We are really into Dungeons and Dragons and my boyfriend bought me some miniature figurines that are plain that we can paint on. I had a lot of fun playing with acrylic paint and painting these small figurines while watching TV.
What have you been up to lately? Enjoying the last days of summer? And what are the books you recently read? Let’s catch up in the comments below!
