Let’s talk about movies! In the past two months I haven’t been watching many of them in the cinemas, but of course there were still very memorable ones worth mentioning in this post.
Oblivion – starring Tom Cruise, this sci-fi, futuristic movie is anything but memorable. Exciting and filled with action indeed, but merely a fun movie that I immediately forgot about after finishing it.
Glass
Maybe just the wrong movie in the wrong time, unfortunately I didn’t really gel with this one. I really liked the producer’s previous movies, but this one was slightly boring a little bit all over the place, and ended really weirdly.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
Yes, I’m very late to the hype of this movie/books. Everyone loved it, but I’m not a huge fan of romance movies, especially ones set in high school. In the end I did quite enjoy it, it was cute and fun and at times heartwarming, but the plot was meh, and I did like the characters but not enough to really root deeply for any of them.
John Wick
We watched the first John Wick because of all the fame surrounding the newest one, and it was really a great fun. The action was incredible, and everything was just so bloody and filled with cool action scenes. Although in the end the story didn’t feel very well-written, it was still a really entertaining movie.
Always Be My Maybe
Another romcom that was fun but not really my thing. I loved the little Asian references, it was indeed very nice and refreshing to see more Asian focused characters and themes in movies like these. Overall quite fun.
Detective Pikachu

This super light, fun, and not to mention adorable movie was not something I thought I would love. With the premise of Pokemon characters living side by side with humans in modern-day life, a young boy is able to hear a Pikachu speak and together with him solves the mystery of his father’s disappearance.
Life in the Doghouse
A heartwarming documentary about two men whose sole passion is animals. I loved how wonderful these people’s loves and hard work is showcased here, and not to mention all the cute doggos in the movie!
Dumplin’

Based on the famous YA novel, the movie stars a young, overweight girl and her dream to join a beauty pageant, with conflicts surrounding her mother Jennifer Aniston. It’s inspiring and fun and generally quite nice.
The Hate U Give

Another movie based on a very hyped YA novel, this time one that I have read before. It’s about a young black girl who witnessed first hand her childhood friend being killed by a police officer, and her journey for bravery and courage to claim justice. It’s so inspiring and makes you want to make a difference in the world. Loved the acting, the narration and screenwriting was very true to the book and I really liked the music as well.
Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse

This is hands-down my fav movie so far this year. I was a little hesitant about the animation style of the movie, but from the first minute of the movie I fell in love. It’s an amazing, refreshing, fun, hilarious, sweet and exciting movie for all ages. I adored the characters and the voice actors. The script was the perfect combination of jokes, great premise and incorporation of science, heartwarming character relationships, amazing character development, and action. It’s was such great fun.
I was surprised how much I liked Dumplin’. Just watching the trailer again makes me smile. I just checked out Into the Spider-verse; looking forward to it!

I really liked the Dumplin’ movie! Haven’t read the book, so not sure how it compares, but the film was hilarious and the actors were great. ❤

That’s a shame that Always be my Baby didn’t work out for you, I think it’s probably one of the best that I’ve watched on Netflix. It was such a feel good movie. 🙂

It’s definitely fun, but not spectacular in any way. But glad you liked it 🙂
