The mid-year freak out tag

We’re already halfway through 2019, and that’s crazy! I have so many books I want to read, and I’m only on 47% through my Goodreads Reading Challenge. Anyways, I don’t remember if I was ever tagged in this tag, but I think it’s a fun and timely one to do today. Let’s jump right into the books!

Best book you’ve read so far in 2019

Sorry, but I just can’t choose one.

Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2019

I loved Robin Hobb’s third and final book in the Farseer trilogy, Assassin’s Quest. Click on the image for a full review of the trilogy!

New release you haven’t read but want to

Really need to jump into the bandwagon of Asian inspired fantasy series love for R. F. Kuang!

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

I don’t really follow many recent releases, so I honestly do not know any books that I’m anticipating to be released this year.

Biggest disappointment

Though quick to read, unfortunately this mystery novel, Rainbirds by Clarissa Goenawan, did not succeed to impress me. Full review in here.

Biggest surprise

I honestly expected nothing from Conversations with Friends, just because it’s marketed as very filled with romance and contemporary, which isn’t really my kind of genre. But I was so surprised to love it so much that it is one of my favourite books in 2019 so far. Full review of the book here.

Favourite new author

Sally Rooney is definitely quickly becoming a favourite author, and I really want to read all of her work. She has a genius mind and a unique writing ability to weave amazing characters and write incredibly relatable and palpable scenes.

Newest fictional crush

36203361I don’t have any YA male protagonists that I’m crushing at the moment, but I really liked Selin from The Idiot by Elif Batuman. Though she feels very unique in terms of personality and I don’t think she and I would be a good couple, I think she’s a wonderful character and I’d love to be friends with her!

25300956Newest favourite character

After being inside Fitz from The Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb for three books, I feel like I am very close to him. He is so well written, has great characterization and feels real. He has his own weaknesses and his relationships are just wonderful to read about.

Book that made you cry

This book tore my heart to pieces.

Book that made you happy

Favourite book to film adaptation

A great and important book, and a very enjoyable movie that was a loyal adaptation to the book, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas is definitely also a pleasant surprise book for me this year.

Favourite post you have done this far

I honestly cannot choose just one. But I’ve been really enjoying writing full-length book reviews again, such as the one I made for Normal People, The Farseer Trilogy, and The Idiot. Also check out my category of Book Reviews if you want to see all of them!

Most beautiful book you’ve bought this year

Love the colors in this edition of The Idiot by Elif Batuman.

What book do you need to read by the end of this year

Wow those are some awesome books! Of course I have a lot of other books I want to read, and my next post I will be listing my summer TBR especially for my vacation next week. But anyways, that is the tag, and if you want to do it, consider yourself tagged as well!

  1. The Farseer trilogy has been on my wishlist for quite some time now. But I don’t want to get copies yet because I want to prioritize my backlist titles for now. Great post as always!
