Pancake book tag

Hi there, welcome back to my blog! I was tagged by the lovely Alex @ The Paperback Piano to do this super cute and mouth-watering pancake book tag. I love pancakes and now I want some, but let’s talk about the books!

First of all, this is so Dutch! If you don’t know, Dutch pancakes are thinner (almost like a crepe) and usually served with powdered sugar. It’s heavenly… I highly agree with Alex’s choice The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern… her writing is so atmospheric! For my latest reads I’d pick Jesmyn Ward‘s Sing, Unburied, Sing, with its unique writing style that is both beautiful and real.

I loooove Annabeth‘s sharp wit and clever remarks. Especially her banter with Percy! I think she’s one of the characters that are often overlooked, but I loved her growth throughout the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series but furthermore later on in the Heroes of Olympus series, when she began to grow more mature as I myself was growing more into an adult while reading the books.

Ugh this pancake sounds sooo good. For this pick I would choose my childhood favourite, Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls. However another book that gives me the similar warm comforting feeling that I read later on as a young adult was Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, and now talking about that book makes me want to read it again because of how warm and wholesome it is.

Definitely understand sugar crashes have totally too often suffered with too much syrup on my pancake! YA books used to give me huge book hangovers, the most memorable one is probably the famous The Raven Cycle books by Maggie Stiefvater, especially the last book The Raven King because it was so good and it unfortunately ended even though I want to read Stiefvater’s writing and read about these characters forever and ever.

Again, YA books would do this to me very often back when I was reading tons of them in middle- and high-school, but for this I’ll choose a more recent one and pick Pachinko by Min Jin Lee, an amazingly written, beautiful, heartbreaking family saga that just rips my heart apart. I love the characters, the writing, the setting, and everything in between. Go check out my review of the book if you haven’t already.

I would choose Amar from A Place for Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza, another heartbreaking book. I really like Amar, he has a lot of turns and depths in his character that is so interesting to read about. Additionally I’d also agree with Alex’s choice for Puck from The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater. Stiefvater just writes such real female main characters that are unique.

Okay first of all, I looove bananas and bananas with pancakes is just perfection. Anyways getting on the books, I really liked We, The Jury by Robert Rotstein that I read last year, a thriller set in a trial and focusing on the jury surrounding this trial. It’s fun, exciting, and definitely excels in its plot. I don’t think I’ve heard many people talk about it in the internet, but they should!

For this I was planning on choosing Ronan and Adam from The Raven Cycle, they are just so adorable together, and in the first book it wasn’t really apparent that they’d be the perfect match because Adam felt also really good with Blue. I’d also choose Ron and Hermione, from the Harry Potter series, because honestly I wasn’t a huge fan of them in the beginning – I felt like it was a little too convenient. I’m sure a lot of people feel the same way.

I absolutely adore peanut butter!!!! Although I rarely put it on my pancakes either, to be honest. But for this pick I choose a recent read, Rainbirds by Clarissa Goenawan. I didn’t like the main character, Ren at all. I thought he was quite boring, does not feel like a real person and very passive.

For this I pick A Place for Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza which I’d recommend to everyone – it has a family of Indian immigrants living in the US, and the characters themselves feel so unique and diverse in their own way that I just love them all like I would love my friends or cousins.
