Movies I want to watch before the middle of the year!

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! I haven’t been watching films as much as I used to this year. For some reason lately I’ve always gravitated more towards books, or Youtube, or crochet in my free time instead of films or TV shows. However I still have a deep love for them, and I really want to watch some more over the course of 2019. So here are some of my to-be-watched movies that I plan to watch before mid-year!

The Little Stranger

This new release is a Gothic historical horror film based on the incredible novel by Sarah Waters. I read the book a long time ago and really loved it, it was really creepy and atmospheric, and I was super excited when I found out they were making a movie out of it! However for some reason I just never gotten round to watching it, and added to it I’ve also heard lately that people weren’t very happy with the adaptation. I’m still eager to give it a try, though.

This dystopian, slightly weird movie seems like not a very popular one, but when I first heard that Jodie Foster would be playing in it and after watching the very interesting trailer, I immediately added it to my to-be-watched list. Not really sure what the premise is about, but I know it’ll be unique and exciting.

This is one of the most talked-about recent release that I unfortunately have not watched and did not watch when it was first released in the cinemas. Highly praised for its music, script, and overall representation of one of the most famous artists and musicians in history, I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.

This is also another Oscar-buzz movie that was released last year and I just have not gotten the opportunity to watch. I don’t really know much about the plot or the premise of this book, but I’ve heard that it’s touching and very well-written, and it’s been a while since I watched anything gripping and emotionally ruining.

The Hate U Give

After really liking the book that this movie was adapted from, written by Angie Thomas, I really want to watch this movie. The actress looks like the perfect person to play the movie, the trailer looks fantastic, and I know it’ll be very fun and empowering and just a good watch.

This is a movie that has gotten a lot of news lately and people are very excited for. At first when we first watched the trailer I was sceptical, especially since I didn’t grow up playing Pokemon or know any of them very well. I didn’t have a very strong emotional and nostalgic connection to the movie, but I’m still interested to watch it.

A future release that it’s really exciting! I have always loved the X-Men movies (even though I was not allowed to watch the earlier ones because my parents thought I was way too young to be able to watch them), I really like the characters’ stories and this movie seems very interesting.

📽 My plans 📽

Watch more movies on the weekend

I used to watch new releases at the cinema on weekends, but ever since I stopped my monthly subscription for the cinema I only go to the cinema once a month. So I plan to not watch at the cinemas every weekend, because that’s really expensive, but to watch one movie that’s available on Netflix or anywhere else at home when I have free time during the weekends.

Make a goal to watch 50 movies by the end of the year

I used to have a goal to watch 100 movies a year, but considering the fact that I’ve only watched 16 films in the past 4 months, I feel like 50 is still a doable number. It’s quite a challenge, but I feel like we still have a long time before the end of the year, and I’m positive that I can reach this goal.

Ask out my friends to do movie nights!

It’s always fun to watch films with your friends after dinner on a weekend night with some ice cream or popcorn. Movies like The Hate U Give, Bohemian Rhapsody, or even horror films like The Little Stranger would be really exciting if you watch it together instead of alone. And it might even enhance the movie-watching experience. I definitely need to be more proactive in asking my friends out to hang out in one of our houses, cuddle up with some dessert and blankets, and watch some movies.

What movies are you looking forward to watch, either older movies or the ones that will be released soon? Let’s talk down below!

  1. Now I kinda want to make a 20 Movie of Summer list to go with 20 Books of Summer. I’m a little off super hero movies, but I still am excited for Dark Phoenix. One of my favorite story lines and I really like Sophie Turner.
