Hello all, welcome back to my blog! December is the month of wrapping the year up, looking back and reminiscing of how the year has gone by, both in a good way and a bad way. This year I had a blast travel-wise. I have been lucky enough to live in Europe, and every month I try to go somewhere new with the people I love and try to explore the world through amazing experiences.
These are some of the highlights of my year in traveling.
The Hague Cat Cafe is an adorable little nook with lovely fluffy cats and it is just the perfect place for a cup of coffee with a fellow cat lover.
My friends and I went on a weekend trip to Disneyland and Paris in France, which was amazing. I am a huge Disney fan and going to Disneyland for the first time was magical and tiring and hot and exciting and filled with amazing rides, awesome food, lovely people, and I did not regret going there at all.
I spent a long weekend in Barcelona, Spain with my mom and cousin several days after my graduation defence – it was amazing! The sun, the bike tour, the beach, the architecture, and of course the food! I loved the city, it’s so full of history but also nice people, the buildings are incredibly photogenic and there are excellent places to explore.
Summer was filled with a super long vacation with the whole family after my graduation. We went to various cities in The Netherlands as well, but the highlight is most definitely our Baltic tour throughout Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. I had an amazing time with my family, enjoying the old town and the food and the history. Definitely check out my travel posts for those.
At the end of summer my boyfriend and I also went to Hoge Veluwe, a national park in the Netherlands that is huge and also has a museum inside. I also made a post about it, but overall the trip was fun and tiring, we had a great time exploring nature and I’d highly recommend going there if you love trekking and nature.
This might look a lot like a summer day but on one really warm Saturday a few friends and I visited Westduinpark by bike, which is the dunes by the beach really near where I live. It was a gorgeously blue-skied day, sweltering heat, lovely company, and again, a nice way to get back to nature.
Early in December we went on a day trip to Koln, Germany, to explore its gorgeous and very crowded Christmas market. It was a beautiful slightly drizzly day but I had so much amazing food, enjoyed the wintery vibes and it was just overall really really fun.
And finally, Maastricht was definitely a huge highlight this winter, in which I also visited their Christmas market. It’s smaller and the food isn’t as amazing as how the German made it, but it’s still a fun time with lovely Christmas atmosphere.
Again, I feel tremendously lucky to be able to go to all these places in Europe with the people I love the most. Traveling has always been a huge part of me, and I will always try and enjoy the moment and when possible, share my thoughts and pictures with all of you as well.
Hope you all had a great year in traveling as well, and definitely let me know your travel destination highlights of 2018.
This is such a lovely post! The only place I really travelled to this year was Copenhagen, but it was absolutely gorgeous. I hope 2019 is full of lots of great adventures for you! 😊

What a wonderful year of travel! Thank you for sharing! I had to do a lot of boring domestic travel for work this year but I did make it to the Bahamas, so that was fun!

I’m so glad you enjoyed to travels this year! I especially loved reading your posts about Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania — I learned so much about those destinations because of your blog posts. 😊 Europe seems to be a really wonderful place to live in for traveling, since the countries are relatively close together. The U.S. is so far away from Europe and Asia in comparison!
Wishing you safe and amazing travels in 2019! ❤️
